LEARN

The LINC (Learning in Networked Communities) project was one of the most complex Adapt projects in the UK; this 15-month project took place between April 2000 and June 2001 across the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. To find out more about the project's objectives click here.

The fact that the project took place in a part of Scotland that is characterised by its sparse population and long distances made it challenging. However, this challenge was met head-on by the academic partners within the UHI as well as by a very large number of Local Learning Centres (LLCs) in a spirit of co-operation and innovation.

The primary practical contribution made by the LINC project was the fact that it brought access to learning closer to many people within an area where it is often very difficult to access traditional forms of further and tertiary education.
