Prior to establishing the LEARN unit, in the autumn of 2000, Liz had worked as the lead researcher on a joint Learning Environments and Technology project
established by UHI and the Scottish Further Education Unit.
Liz is an experienced, and successful researcher as well as a lecturer and tutor with a background in Sociology, Psychology and Computer Science. She has worked
as a researcher, lecturer, tutor and academic supervisor at several universities and colleges (including University of Edinburgh, University of Dundee, Dundee College,
and the Open University - teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level) before joining the UHI in 1998. Her current research interests are elearning, particularly
design of learning resources and edialogues, student evaluation, the role of learning centres in remote rural areas and transferable skills. As well as her involvement in
the LEARN Unit, Liz is a tutor on the Master's programme in Professional Development (MAPD)
