Tomas has been a researcher with the LEARN unit since October 2002, and had previously worked as a teaching assistant
in politics and international relations at the Department of Politics and IR at
the University of Aberdeen. His research interests span the areas of ICT in higher and further education, lifelong learning, environmental
politics, and Scandinavian political parties.
Between December 1999 and December 2001 Tomas was editor-in-chief for the online postgraduate journal
Sapientia which is a joint venture between his former department
and the PSA Graduate Network.
Tomas has recently undertaken a series of professional development courses in the area of web development and e-Learning and
hopes to gain the following Professional Development Certificates through
Netskills:
- Professional Development Certificate in e-Learning
- Professional Development Certificate in Web-development
These PDCs are accredited by EDEXCEL/BTEC.
These two programmes are aimed at further developing and enhancing existing skills and expertise that will allow for a much
greater contribution to the design and creation of e-Learning materials within a number of UHIs degree programmes (BA Social Science,
MSc Managing Sustainable Mountain Development, & MSc Interpretation: Management and Practice).
